The Board of Education allocated $50 million toward an M&O Facelift Program to immediately improve the visual conditions of District-owned schools.
Beginning with secondary schools, in April, 2011, M&O met with principals to identify scopes of work of up to $250,000 per site from a menu of eligible expenditures. Projects include cosmetic and maintenance improvements such as landscaping, deep cleaning, debris removal and various repairs.
In April, 2012 the Board of Education authorized facelift projects for up to $150,000 at 100 selected elementary schools. Construction on elementary school sites will begin in June, 2012. The program is scheduled to conclude at the end of 2013.
