Welcome to Sustainability Initiatives

The Los Angeles Unified School District is committed to becoming the greenest school district in the nation.

From the schools we build and operate to the way in which we dispose of our waste, LAUSD is dedicated to reducing its use of natural resources and expanding its renewable footprint.

LAUSD's sustainability plan includes seven main sustainability goals.

Increase Renewable Energy

1 MW solar system at LAUSD's stores warehouse
  • 3.2 MW under construction at 7 school sites
  • 30 additional projects to be completed by 2012

SCP allows schools to share in a portion of the utility bill savings from their on-site conservation efforts.
  • Dollars saved are shared between the school site and the District's general fund.
