The final report dated January, 2003 found that two very minor faults were present beneath the western portion of the site. The experts concluded these faults were likely to be inactive and that the entire area west of the existing buildings has neglible exposure to future fault rupture. For the remainder of the Site, which includes the existing buildings and the proposed football and baseball areas, the experts concluded that although it was quite unlikely that all or even most of the faults identified on this portion of the Site were active, a final determination regarding the status of the activity of the faults was not possible due to the lack of overlying soils. Based on this finding, and lacking firm data that demonstrated inactivity, the experts recommended that the LAUSD assume the principle minor fault zone on the Site to be active.  Back to top Preliminary Geological Findings (Dec. 2, 2002) Regarding geologic faults on the Belmont Learning Center Site.
